Miami, September 12, 2016—Today Teach For America–Miami-Dade announced that the organization received a $10,000 gift from Investor Solutions, a company that has supported them in their educational efforts since 2010. The donation will support the organization’s work to recruit, train, and support diverse leaders to teach in Miami’s highest-need classrooms.

“We’re incredibly grateful for this support from Investor Solutions,” said Samantha Hoare, executive director of Teach For America – Miami Dade. “It takes a community of individuals, in classrooms and beyond, to make sure all of our students have equal educational opportunities. This donation directly translates into the significant impact we need to serve our communities.”

The team at Investor Solutions has supported Teach For America in their efforts to ensure every child has access to an excellent education for many years. Rob Gordon, Investor Solution’s Senior Financial Advisor, serves as a Teach For America board member, and Frank Armstrong, Investor Solution’s CEO, has long participated in Teach For America’s mentorship program, meeting with a cohort of corps members each year to give advice and best practices.

“There are so many lessons to be learned from Frank,” said teacher Brandon Alfred, “but what’s even more amazing is his desire to learn from the stories of [teachers] and our students. Frank strives to make us feel part of the broader Miami community.”

"Our relationship with Teach for America has grown over the years and extends far beyond the monetary gifts,” said Robert Gordon. “We strongly encourage Miami-Dade County companies to partner with our local schools to continue to build our awesome city!"

Teach For America has been a community partner in Miami and Dade County since 2003. This year, as Teach For America celebrates its 25th anniversary nationally, approximately 175 corps members lead high-need classrooms across the city, reaching over 11,000 students at 38 schools, and more than 450 Teach For America alumni are working throughout Miami to expand opportunities for children growing up in low-income communities.
